![]() ![]() Since it says backups will be free, I wonder what the charge will be if I don’t store _anything_ on OneDrive. And then “Everything else you’re currently backing up to the Samsung Could will continue to be backed up there with no Storage Charge”. I store nothing in the Samsung cloud and expect to continue to store nothing in the ONeDrive cloud. You’re using it - do you know what the charges will be?Īnd that’s where it tells me what I’ve been seeking “After the move, Gallery will be continuously backed up to OneDrive.” I think/hope I can turn that off. ![]() “You’ll get 15gb free for a year” No mention how much it’ll cost after that. I happened to open the Samsung Drive and it says “no files” so I dunno where my backup stuff is going!! I see that it tells me “Make the move to MS OneDrive” and i see what’s going on, at last. Nope - I just checked and my new OneDrive account has three things: an empty directory “Documents”, and empty directory “Pictures” and a “Getting started with OneDrive” PDF. Under my OneDrive Photos folder, it created a subfolder called Samsung Gallery with all the photos and videos backed up from my phone. I got the same message of Samsung Cloud going away and prompting me to jump to OneDrive. Basically there’s no MS-ness on my devices ĭo you have any folders or files already stored in OneDrive, or just the ones that Samsung Cloud is supposed to be moving over? I have a Samsung phone with Samsung Cloud. and I assume/expect/hope that one of these days something will pop up to ask me to “switch” to the now-available OD cloud. The only thing I had to do was “connect” to the OneDrive cloud. What’s the alternative?Īnd I didn’t need to install the OneDrive app on either device. In order to backup/sync *SOME* cloud service has to bridge the devices. ![]() I don’t like MS much but I guess I dislike them less than google and since it seemed that Samsung was “greasing the path” to switching to OneDrive, I made OneDrive account. So samsung tells me they’re shutting down their cloud and explictly says “get a OneDrive” account. I thought that was great, because the only alternative at the time was to use the google cloud and have a low-level, gut distrust of google. What came with the tablet/phone is to use the Samsung cloud. The Backup/Sync stuff is built in and uses a cloud storage system to effect it. Really? Why would anyone use Microsoft drive anyway, anywhere… I’m sure that it is a “good” app, I’m sure it works, but more Microsoft? Throw the baby out with the bathwater. ![]()
